Canteen - The Australian Organisation For Young People Living With Cancer (Vic Division)
Canteen is a not-for-profit organisation that primarily supports 12-25 year-olds dealing with their own diagnosis, a close family member's cancer or the death of a loved one. It also extends its services to parents to help them better cope with cancer, communicate openly and support their children to experience less distress and anxiety. The organisation offers a wide range of free evidence-based support services, including its 24/7 Canteen Connect online program, cancer information and resources, counselling services and parent support, among others. Canteen uniquely represents the experience of young people affected by cancer, with the majority of its Board of Directors being young leaders, as well as appointing several youth ambassadors who share their stories to raise awareness and funds.
