We rely on the generosity, support and time given by many thousands of supporters across Victoria. We couldn’t do it without you.
There are many ways to volunteer with us :
Office volunteers
We have volunteers who work in our office at 615 St Kilda Road, at our warehouse in Laverton or on specific projects. Roles include:
-
Administrative support
-
Packing kits for events and campaigns
-
Helping with mail orders
-
Making calls to our supporters
-
Packing orders for retail merchandise
Please send expressions of interest to volunteering@cancervic.org.au
Event Volunteers
We rely on volunteers for several of our fundraising events. These include:
Many hundreds of volunteers get involved in these events by selling merchandise, being site volunteers, or helping with administration tasks in our office.
Our Relay For Life events are organised by passionate, local volunteers. If you’re interested in making these special events happen, please contact relayforlife@cancervic.org.au
Keen to host your own event instead? See our fundraising page for ways to get involved in our events, or create your own.
Telephone peer support (Cancer Connect)
Cancer Connect is a phone peer support service that puts people in touch with others who've had a similar cancer experience. A minimum 2-year period since completion of treatment for cancer is required to be a Cancer Connect volunteer. Call Cancer Council 13 11 20 for details.
Regional Volunteer Groups
We have a number of regional volunteer groups located across Victoria. These groups help support their local communities and raise vital funds for cancer research, prevention programs and support services. Many participate in our major events, and also organise local fundraisers including stalls, raffles, trivia nights and open gardens.
Joining a Regional Volunteer Group is a great way to make new friends and contribute to the fight against cancer. For more details contact us at supportercare@cancervic.org.au or on 1300 65 65 85.
Community Advisory Network
Cancer Council works to improve cancer outcomes for all Victorians, but we can’t do this alone.
If you would like to give back, be heard and provide invaluable insight into your cancer experience join our Community Advisory Network.
Donations to support people affected by cancer
We're in desperate need of donated wigs, beanies, and holiday breaks for people undergoing cancer treatments. We need more people to sew (not knit) hats, chemo caps and cotton scarves.
We also need more donations of short stays in holiday homes, units or retreats so we can offer cancer patients a short holiday break. It doesn't need to be long – a weekend or two a year is very useful. If you can help, contact cis@cancervic.org.au or 13 11 20.
