Striving for a cancer-free future

Characterisation of the immunological factors that influence the local & abscopal anti-tumour effects of radiotherapy in preclinical models of solid & metastatic cancer

Lead researcher

Dr Nicole Haynes

Institution
The University of Melbourne

Years funded
2013-2015

This project explores the mechanisms by which radiotherapy can alter the susceptibility of local and metastatic tumours to the curative effects of immunotherapeutic approaches designed to promote long-term anti-tumour immune responses. Findings from this study will help with the future design of personalised radio-immunotherapy combinations for the treatment of patients with metastatic cancer.
