Frequently asked questions
What is Cancer Research Giving Day?
Cancer Research Giving Day takes place on 2 February. It’s a special day when you have the power to double your donation to help fund Cancer Council Victoria’s life-saving cancer research. Every dollar you give between 8AM and 8PM Australian Eastern Daylight Time on the day will be doubled!
How can I donate?
Donating is easy! On 2 February, simply visit the Cancer Research Giving Day page here and follow the steps for donation.
How is my donation doubled?
Every dollar you donate will be matched by a generous group of donors who are excited to take part in Cancer Research Giving Day. Their pledge will be activated once a donor (such as yourself!) gives an amount on the day, effectively doubling the amount you have donated.
Why are the donations matched only up to $250,000?
This is the amount that the generous group of matching donations have committed to matching.
Can I donate before 2 February?
We certainly welcome and appreciated all donations at any time. However, for your donation to be doubled by our matching supporters it will need to be made on Cancer Research Giving Day, February 2, between 8AM and 8PM.
Who are the donation matchers?
This is a great opportunity to give a shout-out to our fantastic group of matchers, thanks for asking! A massive thank you to Gaudry Foundation, Corporate Match 2.0 and Margaret Mary and John Ware Bland. We also give a massive thanks to the matching donors who are working behind the scenes.
How much of my donation is tax deductible?
All donations over $2 are tax deductible. You are only able to claim the amount you personally donate, and not the matched total amount. We like the way you think though!
Where does my money go? Can I choose exactly where my donations go or who they help?
Your donation can help fund Cancer Council Victoria’s ground-breaking research projects, though there will not be an option to donate directly to specific research projects.
How can I promote Cancer Research Giving Day?
We’d love for you to help spread the word of Cancer Research Giving Day with your friends, family, and workmates via your usual social channels!
