The Living with Cancer Education Program helps people make sense of cancer in a safe and informal environment. These programs facilitated by local health professionals provide an opportunity to connect with others in similar circumstances. A positive outcome from this Program has seen the start of the Wimmera Prostate Cancer Support Group.
The Living with Cancer Education Program provides the opportunity to access and talk about any information and support services you may need. It provides an informal forum to ask questions and talk with your oncology and health care teams.
This might include questions about dealing with treatments and side effects, learning how to relax and manage stress, physical activity, eating well during treatment and communicating with family, friends and co-workers.
A Living with Cancer Education Program run in Horsham in late 2016, facilitated by prostate cancer nurse Gay Corbett from Ballarat Health Services, encouraged a group of participants to form the new Wimmera Prostate Cancer Support Group in connection with Cancer Council Victoria (pictured).
