Australian banks are phasing out cheques - prepare now and keep making a difference
While banks across Australia gradually phase out cheque payments, people affected by cancer still need your help. A nationwide transition led by financial institutions and supported by the Australian Government means that how you choose to give may need to change.
Many of you have been generously writing cheques to support Cancer Council Victoria’s lifesaving work for years. You’ve helped fund vital cancer research, prevention programs, and support services that remain critical to improving outcomes for the 1 in 2 Victorians diagnosed with cancer by age 85.
Some banks have already moved away from cheques, which means they’re no longer issuing or honouring them. While we are still able to accept cheque donations for now, we’re here to support you through this transition so you can continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of Victorian's affected by cancer.
What this means for you
We understand this change may impact how you choose to give. But rest assured, there are a range of secure, reliable, and convenient ways to continue your much-needed support.
