Holiday break program

Take a break away when it’s needed most

Cancer Council's Holiday Break ProgramGetting away from daily challenges and spending quality time with loved ones is a great way to relax and recharge. If you're affected by cancer and the financial strain that often comes with it, it can be difficult to afford a holiday at a time when it's needed most. We can help.

Cancer Council Victoria's Holiday Break Program can provide you with a one-off short getaway, at no cost.

This program can provide:

  • quality time with loved ones, creating lasting memories
  • a break from hospital visits and cancer treatment
  • rest and relaxation
  • the reassurance that, if the need was to arise, you won't be too far away from hospital.

Cancer Council Victoria matches eligible patients and their families with available, donated accommodation. All properties are within Victoria to minimise travel time.

Holiday breaks are usually for 2-4 nights. Various type of properties are available in different locations. Whether you're after wheelchair access or a dog-friendly back yard, we'll work with you to help you find the right spot for your break.

Holiday break location guide

Why are the traditional Aboriginal lands and holiday locations displayed on our map?

An opportunity for Aboriginal people to be on their traditional country may be quite rare. With the spiritual connection to the land and waters a fundamental part of Aboriginal culture, this program helps those who are affected by cancer to spend quality time where their ancestors are. Being on country brings calm feelings of belonging and revitalises. This link to holiday programs with traditional countries has a greater meaning and adds greater value for Aboriginal people.
