About your environment

Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. Quit Victoria is located within the Prevention Division and is a joint initiative of Cancer Council Victoria, the Department of Health, the National Heart Foundation and VicHealth. Quit's Policy team works at the state, national and international level and is responsible for tobacco control policy research, development and advocacy.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Legal Policy Adviser to join Quit's Policy team. Reporting to the Manager, Tobacco Control Policy, your role is to:

  • Undertake legal, regulatory and policy research and develop tobacco related legal, regulatory and policy interventions
  • Analyse and provide advice on a wide range of tobacco control issues and the implications of existing and proposed legislation
  • Support advocacy for tobacco-related legal, regulatory and policy interventions.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A relevant degree in law and admission to legal practice or eligibility for admission to practice in Victoria
  • Demonstrated experience in the law and legal policy environment, preferably in government or a non-government organisation
  • Proven ability to interpret and conduct high level legal, regulatory and policy research and analysis, as well as the ability to generate original research and writing
  • Exceptional synthesis, writing skills and attention to detail as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

What we can offer you

This full-time (part time applicants will also be considered) fixed term maternity leave position until 21 September 2018 provides a salary within range $77,900 - $92,181 plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
