The Research Awards program has existed since 1980, to provide donors with an approach to fund specific research, if they have an interest in doing so. The Research Award program’s process of administering donations to allow donors to support a particular type of research and be acknowledged for their generosity.
The Research Award program offers the donor, who has given $5,000 or more, the option of allocating their donation to a specific area of cancer research that The Cancer Council Victoria has funded through our Research Management Unit grants.
Donors who request or set up a Research Award are some of our most important givers or successful fundraising individuals and teams. Each research project grant generally runs for three to four years and in that time donors either choose, or are encouraged, to continue to donate $5000 or more each year. Also, for our fundraiser teams and Special Efforts individuals, the Research Award program provides an incentive to raise $5000 or more each year to continue their Research Award from a previous year. The project selected by the donor or team may be deemed as needing donors’ support or it may be a cancer research project that is of personal interest.
All individual Research Award donors must donate $5000 or more each year to start or renew a Research Award.
Types of Research Awards:
Research Awards are acknowledged in the Annual Review for each year the Award is continued.
