Financial assistance

We can help some people affected by cancer and their families with the cost of some emergency and living expenses - see our financial help page.

If you have money problems related to your cancer diagnosis or treatment, a good first point of contact is your hospital social worker. The agencies below might also be of use. 

 

Anglicare Victoria
Provides emergency food and material aid.

Centrelink
Advises on government disability, sickness and carers' payments.

Credit Helpline
Advises community workers and consumers about credit and debt problems.

Good Shepherd Youth and Family Service
Provides emergency accommodation and other services.

Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund For Children
Provides emergency and practical financial support to families where a child is being treated for cancer.

Salvation Army
Provides emergency financial assistance, clothing, house furnishings and shelter.

Utility Relief Grant Scheme
Provides once-off assistance for domestic customers who are unable to pay their gas, electricity or water bills due to a temporary financial crisis. Conditions apply. Apply to your utility supplier.

Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme
Provides financial assistance for people who need to travel over 100 km each way from their home to the nearest specialist to obtain medical and dental treatments and services.
