Data access for research
Data collected by the Victorian Cancer Registry is a shared resource. We release various publications and statistical data. When more information, including identified data, is needed, we're pleased to support researchers who request access to the data.Data requests
To make a request for VCR data, download and follow instructions in the documents below. They explain the type of data that can be obtained; criteria, conditions and limitations for access; procedures to be followed when requesting data access; and fees. These procedures are in place to protect, as far as possible, against potential breaches of privacy as well as ensuring ethical integrity and scientific merit of proposals seeking data access.

Record linkage and recruitment
We undertake electronic record linkage of VCR data to other existing datasets to identify and verify cancer cases for researchers and program evaluation. We can also identify and recruit a representative sample of patients to various external research studies.
