Cancer treatment practice surveys
These surveys are designed to ask clinicians on a case by case basis to describe the specific treatment of a representative sample of individuals. Population-based surveys of patients diagnosed with a specific cancer provide information on the extent to which actual patient management accords with evidence-based guidelines or consensus management recommendations.
The primary treatment practice survey questionnaire includes questions designed to capture information concerning presentation, investigations, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and short-term outcomes. Supplementary treatment questionnaires include questions concerning radiation therapy, hormonal therapy and chemotherapy as well as clinical trial enrolment.
The committees of the Victorian Cooperative Oncology Group have collaborated with the Cancer Epidemiology and Behavioural Research Centres in the conduct of treatment practice surveys in cancers of the:
