Help us towards a cancer-free future with a Cancer Council donation

Every month, we receive around 1,000 enquiries from Victorians like Drew facing a frightening cancer diagnosis. These calls are responded to by nurses on Cancer Council Victoria’s 13 11 20 information and support line.

When someone contacts 13 11 20 needing help, their first point of contact is one of the support line’s experienced cancer nurses. These nurses answer questions and make sure they’re connected to Cancer Council services and support that will help them the most.

From emotional counselling and financial advice, to peer support and our free wig service, these services can be completely life-changing for Victorians. The Cancer Council relies on your help to sustain this invaluable resource.

By helping to fund 13 11 20 with a small monthly donation, your support today can help give people like Drew courage in their darkest hour.  Helping us fight cancer is life-saving work.

Frequently asked questions about donations

How do I make a donation?

There are many ways you can make a donation. We take donations online, over the phone, and in cash. Now that you're here, the easiest way is to use the form at the top of this page.

Where does my money go?

Your donation will go to supporting Cancer Council Victoria's mission towards a cancer-free future.

  • Cancer research and clinical trials

  • Prevention of cancer through lifestyle education

  • Education about cancer and cancer treatment

  • Support for people diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones

Our mission is to eradicate all cancer. We cannot guarantee that your donation will go directly to ovarian cancer research, for example. Your donation also does not go to Cancer Council Australia, which is a separate organisation. Instead, it will go to local initiatives and support services in Victoria.

Will I receive a tax receipt?

Yes, you'll receive a tax receipt on any donation over $2. This will allow you to claim your donation come tax time. Most donations to charity offer the same benefit.

You can use the tax receipt for your donation to claim a deduction at tax time through the Australian Tax Office's online portal. If you have a personal income tax agent, they can submit the deduction on your behalf.

How do I support through regular giving?

If you're looking to do more than donate on a special occasion, you can! Becoming a regular giver is the single most impactful way you can help people diagnosed with cancer. Regular Giving contributes hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

You can become a regular giver here. You can also get involved in other ways, like fundraising, volunteering, or leaving a gift in memory.
