Description

The Asbestos Council of Victoria/GARDS Support Group meets monthly on the last Tuesday of the month at 1:30, and at 7:30 on the third Tuesday evening of the month, at a community venue in Newborough. The group receives support from the Asbestos Council of Victoria and the Gippsland Asbestos-related Disease Service staff. It welcomes people affected by mesothelioma, mouth, lung and throat cancers as well as their families. Activities include peer discussion, social activities (including outings to places of interest locally), education, relaxation and fundraising activities; the GAR the organisation there is a joining fee of $5 then a yearly charge ($11 for employed people and $3 for pensioners and concession holders). The group can organise interpreters DS organisation also loans equipment free of charge to people who need it. Meetings are free to attend; to joinfor members wishing to attend if notified in advance.
