The receptor for the salt
retaining hormone aldosterone, the mineralocorticoid receptor, is present in
normal breast. Our recent large study identified a potential inhibitory role
for the mineralocorticoid receptor in breast cancer. These findings raise
exciting possibilities with respect to the regulation of cell growth. The
proposed studies will explore this unchartered territory with a view to
identifying and exploring a range of novel possible targets for the treatment
of breast cancer.
