CED researcher, A/Prof Brigid Lynch, and Master of Science (Epidemiology) student, Fatima Ganatra, are working to update the Physical Activity Cohort Repository (PACe).
PACe was established in 2020 by A/Prof Lynch and the Epidemiology Council of the International Society of Physical Activity and Health to create a centralised repository of cohort studies that prospectively collected data on physical activity and/or sedentary behaviour across three or more timepoints. Over 200 cohort studies from around the world are currently included in PACe.
The PACe project was designed to maximise the financial, logistical, and intellectual investments made in cohort studies by streamlining access to existing data. By helping researchers to identify projects relevant to their research, PACe empowers researchers to answer complex questions about physical activity and health outcomes with greater precision and efficiency.
Under the supervision of A/Prof Lynch, Fatima will conduct a thorough review of scientific literature published since PACe was first established to identify additional cohort studies to include in the repository.
This work is critical to ensure that the repository is as comprehensive and up to date as possible prior to the publication of the PACe Resource Profile in the International Journal of Epidemiology, thereby enhancing the publications’ relevance, impact, and long-term value to the global research community.
