How to access data and/or biospecimens from Health 2020 cohort study
Access to the MCCS resource (Health 2020) is subject to a number of conditions designed to protect the integrity of the database, to ensure that the finite supplies of biospecimens are used appropriately, and to safeguard both the privacy of the participants and the confidentiality of the information held. Access will not normally be given to commercial research enterprises. Allocation of access will be determined via a process which includes evaluation of the scientific merit of proposed research and the adequacy of support for the project. This process is monitored by an Independent Oversight Group. Researchers will be required to sign appropriate confidentiality and materials transfer agreements, to acknowledge the role of Health 2020 in their research, to attribute authorship of publications according to current standards. They will be expected to add any new data and biospecimens they collect to the database. There is a schedule of charges to cover costs incurred in providing data or materials.

Expression of Interest (EoI)
Requests for access must be made in the first instance using the Health 2020 Expression of Interest form which can be completed and submitted online. Subsequent to approval of the EoI, a formal application will be required that includes references, explaining the rationale, specific aims, planned approach, required data and or materials and the expected outcome of the proposed project. Health 2020 staff will respond to an Expression of Interest with an invitation to discuss the proposed research with a Health 2020 principal investigator or delegate who is familiar with the available materials, relevant research methods and statistical analysis.
