Thank you for painting Victoria yellow

Wednesday 28 August, 2019

Cancer Council supporters gave even more than hope this Daffodil Day Appeal – they raised vital funds all going towards life-saving cancer research.

There was an incredible feeling of hope across Victoria on Daffodil Day, Friday 23 August. It was hard to miss the 1,600 generous volunteers who painted the streets a brilliant shade of yellow, and gave their time by collecting donations and selling daffodils and pins.

This year, supporters also held fundraisers throughout the entire month of August and inspired donations from their schools, workplaces, friends and family. We can’t thank them enough for their efforts will make a huge difference to everyone impacted by cancer.

Thanks in part to past Daffodil Day funding, amazing advancements have been made in cancer prevention, screening and treatment – helping to increase survival rates from 49% in the 1980s to 69% today. Funds raised through the Daffodil Day Appeal will help boost that number even further; bringing us closer to a cancer free future.

We're still receiving and tallying up the funds raised from our incredible volunteers and fundraisers. Stay tuned to find out how much Australians have raised for cancer research through this year's Daffodil Day!
