Over the coming months, thousands of golf enthusiasts will hit the greens for a cause that’s bigger than the game itself – The Longest Day.
This ultimate golfing challenge pushes players to their limits, inviting them to conquer 36, 54, or even 72 holes from sunrise to sunset. So, if you’re a keen golfer (or just like the sound of the challenge), why not join in?
Among our challengers is Charlie – a passionate golfer and surfer whose life took a sharp turn when he was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer at just 28. For Charlie, every swing on the course represents hope, resilience, and the power of fundraising to change lives.
“I wasn’t too concerned when I started feeling pain in my hip and had a bit of fatigue, I just dismissed it as nothing unusual,” said Charlie.
However, as his symptoms persisted, Charlie knew something was wrong. “My health declined dramatically in the early days, but after a few months of treatment I was able to return to the things I love, surfing and of course playing golf.”
Charlie is so happy to be back on the golf course and to have a way to give back at the same time as celebrating his progress since his diagnosis.
“Cancer is random and aggressive. The more support cancer research receives through events like The Longest Day, the closer we get to a cancer-free future.”
