“My brother and I were really close, it was really hard, but I wanted to find some good from it, so I thought about doing some fundraising.” – Daniel.

In 2018, Daniel Federico lost his brother, Julian, to T-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL). Julian was just 20 years old. It left a lasting impact on Daniel who has since channelled his grief into raising awareness and funds for cancer research and support services.
Determined to make a difference, Daniel took on his first challenge in Julian’s honour not long after his passing – walking the 36.7-kilometre Hurstbridge train line and raising $20,000 in the process.
But he didn’t stop there.
In 2021, while still in high school, he pushed himself even further, trekking an astonishing 221 kms from Inverloch to Melbourne.

And in 2024, at just 21 years old, Daniel embarked on his most ambitious challenge yet. Coined ‘Fredo’s Trainline Trek Against Cancer’, he walked every Melbourne metro train line in 30 days. That’s almost 600km!
A cancer journey can be long and hard for everyone affected, including family, friends and loved ones. Through his endurance challenges and fundraising efforts, Daniel is keeping Julian’s memory alive while supporting others impacted by cancer. His journey is a powerful reminder of love, resilience, and the meaningful ways we can honour those we’ve lost.
