Make your own origami daffodils

As the first flower to bloom after the winter frost, the daffodil has become known as the international symbol of hope for people with cancer.  Folding these beautiful origami daffodils is a perfect activity to connect to the hopeful message of Cancer Council's Daffodil Day and share with others.

You will need

6 square sheets of yellow paper

6 square sheets of yellow paper

1 glue stick

glue

 

Step 1

Step 1
Fold the square diagonally in half to form a triangle.

Step 2

Step 2
Rotate the paper, so that you have the long side of the triangle sitting horizontally on the table. Fold the left hand corner of the triangle up to meet the centre.

Repeat with the other side to create a diamond.

Step 4

Now fold each flap back from the bottom point of the diamond and press along the fold line.

Open up each of these new flaps and flatten them out, they will now look like a kite shape.

Fold the top pointy flap of each kite shape down to line up with the diagonal edge of the main triangle behind.

Fold each side flap in half towards the centre to meet it's other edge.

Put glue on one side. Curl one side inwards to meet the other side and glue together where they meet.

Make five more petals and glue them all together along their side edges to create your origami daffodil.
