In memory of Lena Jaidon

Lena Jaidon

Let’s do this for Lena!

I’ve created this page as a tribute to my dear friend, Lena Jaidon, who I met through Cancer Council Victoria. We worked together for 10 months and found her to be an absolute joy to work with. She had a gorgeous smile, a bright bubbly personality, a wonderful sense of humour and made everyone feel welcome. Outside of work, she was an amazing cook and gardener often combining freshly grown produce with culinary works. One of my fondest memories of Lena is when she gave me a lesson in how to make dumplings using different fillings picked from the veggie beds.

On Christmas Day 2019, Lena lost her 1.5 year battle with cholangiocarcinoma. She was a fighter to the end who accepted every treatment option available despite terrible side effects and a tired body. In doing so she managed to achieve three milestones of attending her son’s wedding and seeing her other two children graduate via video camera.

My heart goes out to Lena’s husband and her entire family. I know this page won’t bring Lena back but your donations to Cancer Council through this page make a huge impact. You're supporting the 95 Victorians diagnosed with cancer every day, and by working together, we're drawing closer to a cancer free future. It is my dream that we may one day live in a world that is cancer free and other families can be spared the things that Lena and her family have been through.

Cancer researchers are working to find the next cancer breakthrough, prevention programs are helping people to reduce their risk of developing cancer, and cancer nurses are there to provide information and support so that no one faces cancer alone.

As a not-for-profit, Cancer Council relies on the generosity of the community to continue its life-saving work into all cancers. Learn more about where your money goes.

In closing, let’s do this for Lena and dig deep!
