Our cancer nurses on 13 11 20 provide information and support services to anyone affected by cancer - whether it's patients, carers, family, friends, workplaces or health professionals.
We encourage you to refer people to us that need support, allowing patients in active treatment to utilise hospital triage services.
If you have a patient or carer that needs support, please fill in the support referral form and one of our cancer nurses will contact them to see how we can help.
Our cancer nurses are well-placed to support people who have general concerns around COVID-19, including patients who may have recently completed treatment or are in follow up, as well as carers and family members. We know many carers and family members can’t attend treatment appointments with their loved ones at this time and have questions and concerns both emotional and practical.
Our cancer nurses act as navigators and educators, enabling people to better understand their situation and the support options available to them. Our database of more than 470 Victorian supportive care services includes services focused on the needs of vulnerable patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We're continually monitoring the types and volumes of calls through 13 11 20 and will adapt our response during this time to ensure we continue to meet people's needs.
