The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is one of the largest health providers in Victoria, providing a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care, outpatient and community programs.The hospital's cancer services include blood, breast, colorectal, head and neck, lung, neurological, upper gastro-intestinal and urological cancers. It also provides palliative care.As part of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC), RMH's medical oncology services are provided by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The RMH continues to provide surgical oncology services for all specialties. It also works with Peter Mac to deliver diagnosis, treatment and clinical research services across the Parkville precinct for patients with blood cancer and other blood disorders, including leukaemia and lymphoma. For more than 25 years, The Royal Melbourne Hospital has been home to Victoria's largest adult Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, performing approximately 100 transplants a year.All day therapy services and treatments, including outpatient chemotherapy, blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies and post bone marrow transplant follow up for patients with blood cancer and other blood disorders are provided by Peter Mac Day Therapy within the VCCC building. There are specialist clinics located at both Peter Mac and RMH for patients with a blood cancer, suspected blood cancer and other blood disorders.
