The Ostomy Association of Melbourne is a not-for-profit incorporated association catering for the appliance needs of ostomates. It aims to maximise the wellbeing of its members by providing the highest level of service through cost effective and innovative management and confidence through an appropriate level of professional care and assistance.The association helps people cope with life with a stoma, provides information and encouragement concerning all aspects of stoma care, and distributes free stoma care appliances and pharmaceutical items, approved by the Commonwealth Health Insurance Commission.The association also runs a telephone advice line staffed by a stomal therapy nurse. Ostomy supplies can be distributed through the mail or picked up from the association's distribution centre in Burwood, Victoria.
