Servicing the Wimmera region, Stawell Regional Health offers a diverse range of integrated and related health services in a modern hospital.The John Bowen Day Oncology Unit is open for treatment on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and includes a team of highly experienced staff who provide support to patients, their families and carers through their cancer journey. The unit administers chemotherapy for all types of cancer, venesections for blood disorders, and post-chemotherapy care of intravenous access devices. Great care is taken to assess the patient's condition during treatment and staff will offer ways to treat the side effects of the treatment. The team will also make referrals to medical, allied health, social and nursing services where appropriate.Patients and their carers can attend the Oncology Rehabilitation program aimed at increasing fitness and providing social and emotional support. It also offers Look Good, Feel Better workshops for women twice a year that helps patients manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Community volunteers support the unit and provide a friendly face for patients.
