Portland District Hospital provides an integrated health service to the local community which comprises acute, primary health and residential aged care. It offers day stay chemotherapy once a week. The hospital runs a free cancer support nurse program, which connects cancer patients with a registered nurse who has undertaken additional education in cancer care and specialises in the support of people affected by cancer. It also runs a breast care nurse program, whereby specialist nurses provide information and support for people undergoing breast cancer treatment.The hospital's allied health services include counselling, dietetics, diabetes education, exercise physiology, drug and alcohol support, lymphoedema support, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry and speech pathology, among others.It also runs palliative care services for the people of Portland, Heywood, Dartmoor, Bessiebelle.
