Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service (PICS)
The Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service (PICS) aims to ensure children and adolescents with cancer receive the best care, in the best facility, as close to home as possible. Funded by the Victorian Government to lead a networked paediatric cancer care system in Victoria, PICS works with The Royal Children's Hospital, Monash Children's Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and several regional shared care centres to achieve its goals. The service aims to improve patient experiences and outcomes by connecting cancer care and driving best practice. It leads and advocates for best-practice paediatric cancer care in Victoria; responds to the needs of consumers and partners; drives innovation and quality improvement; promotes an accessible and family-centred service system; uses data and the best available evidence to set state-wide standards of care; and supports access to innovative treatment options. PICS is a member of the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium (VPCC), a partnership between leading research, academic and clinical institutes, working together towards advances in childhood cancer research and how they are implemented for patients and families.
