External Breast Prostheses Reimbursement Program

Australian Government (Medicare)

The External Breast Prostheses Reimbursement Program is an Australian government program that helps with the cost of an external breast prosthesis after breast cancer surgery. To receive a reimbursement for an external breast prosthesis, eligible individuals must be enrolled in Medicare; have had breast surgery as a result of breast cancer; and have not purchased and claimed under this program in the past two years. Individuals can get up to a maximum of $400 for each prosthesis and will need to pay for their prosthesis upfront. An external breast prosthesis is an artificial breast that is worn under clothing to replace the shape of the breast.
