Anyone who is caring for someone affected by cancer will experience a wide range of emotions. Many carers say it is a rewarding experience, one that brings personal growth and a sense of satisfaction. But it can also feel demanding, particularly around the holiday season.
Cancer Council offers one-on-one phone support with someone who understands what you’re going through. You can talk to someone who will listen without judgement and offer practical tips and advice that worked for them. By talking with someone else, you may feel that you are not alone.
This holiday season, Cancer Council reminds you to be kind to yourself. If you feel the celebrations are too much, take yourself away from the festivities for some time to rest, read a book, meditate or listen to music. Go for a brisk walk around the block to keep your mind and body healthy. Remember to ask for and accept offers of help when available.
