Cancer Council calls on health professionals to help lift screening rates in Victoria

Cancer Council Victoria has launched an ambitious new campaign to lift bowel cancer screening rates in Victoria. We are calling on all health professionals to lend their voice by encouraging their patients to do the test when it arrives at their home as part of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. Clinical Consultation Skills Education Retreat

Registrations are now open for the Clinical Consultation Skills Education Retreat. Cancer Council Victoria and Deakin University’s Centre for Organisational Change in Person-Centred Healthcare are partnering to deliver this state-of-the-art event at the luxury RACV resort, Torquay, 9-11 October 2017. Accepted internationally as the ‘gold standard’ in communication skills training, this evidence-based program is open to oncology clinicians. Read more

Research Profile: Implementing Pathways for Cancer Early Diagnosis project

The Optimal Care Pathways have been developed to improve patient outcomes by facilitating consistent, safe, high quality and evidence-based care. The Victorian Department of Health and Human Services are leading a state-wide approach for the implementation and adoption of the Optimal Care Pathways into the acute and primary care settings. eLearning: Survivorship and late complications of childhood and adolescent cancer

The Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service has developed a series of eight eLearning modules for health professionals, covering a range of topics related to survivorship and late complications of childhood cancer. The modules are intended to support health professionals in the community, as survivor’s transition from tertiary services back to their general practitioner or community service. Read more

Invitation: Participate in Consultation Meetings

The Department of Health and Human Services has commissioned Professor Mei Krishnasamy, Chair in Cancer Nursing, University of Melbourne, to revise and refresh supportive care cancer resources and training materials. Part of the project involves seeking the collective expertise of consumers, clinicians, advocacy groups, integrated cancer services and reform policy makers. Read more

Victorian Cancer Trials Link relaunches improved website

Clinical trials are a gold standard treatment option, yet many people find the decision to participate a challenging one. Of those newly diagnosed with cancer in Victoria, only 6% are recruited into clinical trials. To increase patient access to and information about clinical trials, Cancer Council Victoria has recently improved the Victorian Cancer Trials Link website. Read more
