START Trial: Structured Triage and Referral by Telephone

Distress Screening has been acknowledged as a way of ensuring holistic support for people affected by cancer. Cancer Council Victoria is partnering with the University of Newcastle and Cancer Council New South Wales in the START trial to examine the effectiveness of combining distress screening with structured care through a telephone-based service.

Exercise and education using Telehealth

Five health services across regional Victoria have participated in the Telehealth for Supportive Survivorship Care project to offer a survivorship assessment with exercise, education and wellness components. Preliminary results suggest that engaging participants with Telehealth and subsequent reduction in travel time increases retention rate, whilst positive effects have been seen on physical activity.
