We offer a range of free programs and services to improve the quality of life for all Victorian’s affected by cancer through reliable information, practical and emotional support. We are proud of what we do and we would like to share a few achievements with you:
Cancer Information and Support 13 11 20
Our experienced cancer nurses are available to talk to anyone affected by cancer and the care provided is complementary to the information received from the healthcare team. In 2017, our nurses responded 11,429 calls and emails, tailoring the information and support provided to fit the individual’s circumstances.
In 2017 we introduced an eight-week telehealth group based education and supportive care program in Regional Victoria. This program empowers people to improve their health and wellbeing as they move from treatment to recovery and wellness. This is part of our Wellness and Life after Cancer program. So far, we have delivered in 3 courses and excited to continue our work in 2018.
Holiday Break provides people affected by cancer with a one-off short getaway, at no cost. In 2017 there were 104 holiday breaks offered for patients and families to create memories.
We provide reliable and up-to-date publications including booklets and factsheets. In 2017 over 261,180 items of resources were distributed throughout Victoria. This year we revised the Cancer Services guide to include over 470 services covering topics such as, physical health and wellbeing, support for culturally diverse communities, services offered to survivors, and organisations and agencies that can provide practical and financial assistance.
