Breakthrough December 2024

Message from Todd

Todd Harper

It takes a certain kind of person to make a difference in the world. To choose to help others. To push for change and not accept that where we are now is good enough. Thank you for being one of them!

I’m excited to share with you just a handful of the many examples where your kindness is driving positive change, and there’s plenty of good news to celebrate.

Thank you for your continued kindness. I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year.

Todd Harper AM

CEO, Cancer Council Victoria

With you by our side, we’re here for all people facing cancer at all stages of their cancer journey.  Here’s how your kindness is supporting Victorians every day.

5-year survival of leukaemia in children under the age of 15 has improved by 45%  over the past 35 years in Victoria.

This spring  97 people hosted a Girl's Night In to raise much needed funds for women's cancers.

More than 2.4M children were protected from UV nationally through our SunSmart Schools and Early Childhood Program.

This summer, find the daily UV level on the SunSmart Global UV app.

When caring for someone with cancer becomes a second job

Research shows one in two Victorians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85. This means that most of us are likely to get a cancer diagnosis or know someone who has cancer, as well as someone who has been (or will be) a carer.

Over the last couple of months, Victorians have run marathons, hosted afternoon teas, purchased daffodils, taken a cold-water plunge or shaved their heads (and so much more!) in support of people affected by cancer. Our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful people giving their time, experiences, funds, and voices to support the work of Cancer Council Victoria.
