Nowhere is your support more evident than during Daffodil Day - a yearly highlight for me – as a sea of daffodils brighten up Melbourne and parts of regional Victoria.
It’s so heartwarming to see so many of you out and about buying daffodils, taking a cold plunge for the Daffodil Day Dip, and embracing the spirit of hope that Daffodil Day brings. With your support we’re making a huge difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
And earlier this year I saw this same spirit while attending several Australia’s Biggest Morning Teas in our community. It’s such a great way to meet with incredible supporters like you and talk about the research we’re able to invest in, thanks to your generosity.
In this edition of Breakthrough, you’ll discover how such investments are changing the lives of mesothelioma patients. We answer some commonly asked questions about cancer and how to support someone dealing with a diagnosis. And we celebrate a significant milestone - 40 years of Quit. We take you on a journey highlighting Quit’s key achievements over the last four decades.
If you’re looking for ways to get involved and show your support over the coming months, spring is the perfect time to participate in events like Relay for Life, host a Girls’ Night In, or challenge your golf game as part of The Longest Day. Or perhaps you’re thinking about the legacy you could leave for future generations with a gift in your Will.
However you choose to make a difference, you’re helping support the 1 in 2 Victorians diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. 1 in 2 is too many, but together we're changing this and creating hope for the future.
Thank you for your continued kindness.
