Victorians encouraged to sign up for endurance challenge this December.
Cancer Council is encouraging golfers to sign up for The Longest Day, the ultimate golf challenge, to raise funds for a cancer free future.
The Longest Day will officially take place on Monday 14 December 2020, but participants can hold their event at their local golf club anytime during December or January.
This year for the first time, participants can play either two, three or four rounds of golf in one day – whichever challenge tests their skill and stamina!
Cancer Council Victoria Acting Head of Fundraising, Lyrian Fleming-Parsley, said the event is fun, easy to sign up for and expected to be popular now golf courses are open throughout Victoria again.
“This year participants of The Longest Day have more options to choose from when getting involved – two, three or four rounds of golf. We know our supporters from previous years like to get competitive on the green with the 72-hole challenge but the other options available are great too,” she said.
“Every year on average, nearly 3,000 Victorians are diagnosed with melanoma. By participating in The Longest Day, you’ll be helping Cancer Council Victoria continue supporting all those who are affected by skin cancer. Get a group of mates together and sign up – you won't find a more unique challenge this year!”
This year, Cancer Council Victoria hopes to recruit 1,000 participants for The Longest Day with the aim of raising $560,000.
Chairman of Golf Australia Andrew Newbold said, “The Longest Day is one of the best and most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had playing golf. I can’t wait to do it again this year”
