A free cancer information evening is being held on Tuesday 12 April for members of the Robinvale and Euston communities affected by cancer, their families and friends.
Every year, more than 125 residents of the Swan Hill district are diagnosed with cancer and many more are living with the disease. Robinvale District Health Service has partnered with Cancer Council Victoria to provide people with the opportunity to ask questions of experts and speak with other people in similar situations.
Dr Jose Ormotoso, Robinvale's General Practitioner, will be joined by Amanda Spillare from Cancer Council Victoria to deliver the information evening.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to listen to a cancer patient's personal cancer journey, learn more about what cancer is and the support services that are available to Robinvale and Euston residents.
Ms Spillare said the evening will be of great benefit to Robinvale and Euston residents affected by cancer.
"Attending this session gives people the opportunity to connect with others who have been through similar experiences in an open and supportive environment. Having some of their questions answered will hopefully reduce the feelings of isolation and stress that can be experienced by many cancer patients," she said.
Cancer patients of all ages are encouraged to attend, as well as friends and family members. A light supper will be provided.
