A collection of outstanding entries from Cancer Council Victoria’s, internationally acclaimed, Arts Awards will be on display in Melbourne from 11 July. This important exhibition provides a creative voice for professional and amateur artists touched by cancer, and will move and inspire all who see it.
This year’s theme is ‘Lost and Found’, and the exhibition showcases works from entrants of all ages through visual art, poetry and prose, film, Indigenous art and youth and children’s writing and art.
Judged by high profile experts including Tony Wilson, Eleana Taylor and Arnold Zable, each artwork chosen for the exhibition is unique and gives insight into the many ways that cancer impacts our community.
Arts Awards was recently selected winner of the Visual Arts and Exhibitions Award category of The Ability Media International Awards for its creative excellence and social relevance.
Each artist tells their personal cancer story with honesty and dignity. By sharing their experience through creative expression, entrants have a unique opportunity to remember loved ones, help others understand and provide a sense of hope for those affected by cancer.
The 2010 Arts Awards Exhibition is a free public event and opens in Melbourne on Sunday 11 July, before touring Victoria.
