Relay For Life kicks off 10th anniversary celebrations at Federation Square

Wednesday 28 January, 2009

Relay For Life, the Cancer Council's largest fundraising event, is celebrating its 10th anniversary and to mark this significant milestone a special public launch is being held at Federation Square, 8am-2pm, Thursday 26 February.

Hundreds of cancer survivors and carers will be walking laps of Federation Square to celebrate survivors of cancer, remember loved ones lost and most importantly to raise funds for cancer research, support and education.

Everyone is welcome to be a special part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, which will include live entertainment, music and celebrity appearances, as well as join the hundreds of passionate participants who will be walking in the fight against cancer.

This special launch event is also a great opportunity to find out more about Relay For Life in 2009 - you may even like to register a team! Held in over 150 Australian communities each year, Relay For Life is an overnight community event where teams of 10 or more keep a baton moving in a relay-style walk or run to raise funds for the vital work of the Cancer Council.
