May marks the start of Australia's Biggest Morning Tea month, so why not get involved and register your own event today?
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is on Thursday 22 May and The Cancer Council Victoria is urging all Victorians to embrace this year's event and use their morning tea break to help save lives.
The Cancer Council's Community Relations and Fundraising Director, Ms Deb Stringer, said one Victorian is diagnosed with cancer every 22 minutes, around the length of an average coffee break.
"It is essential that we persist in raising funds to support our world-class research, continue to educate people on the steps they can take to reduce their cancer risk, as well as maintain our support programs for people affected," Ms Stringer said.
Now in its 15th year, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is one of the Cancer Council's most popular events with nearly $9 million raised by over 1 million Australians last year.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea a great excuse to catch up with friends, family or colleagues. While the official date is Thursday 22 May, events can be held anytime throughout May.
All funds raised support the Cancer Council's lifesaving research, education and prevention programs and support services for people facing cancer. As little as $3 can pay to provide a person affected by cancer with important cancer information resources.
