The Cancer Council Victoria will hold a free cancer seminar in Mildura on Friday 23 May.
Local residents and members of the community are invited to come along and hear the latest news about support, research, treatment and cancer prevention, as well as ways to help the cancer fight between 10.00am - 12.30pm at Mildura Grand, Seventh Street, Mildura.
The Cancer Council's Cancer Information and Support Service Director, Doreen Akkerman, said the free seminar is an opportunity for Mildura residents to learn more about a range of cancer issues.
"The seminar is also an important way for those who have been affected by cancer either as a patient or carer, to connect with other cancer survivors and share their experiences, and find out what support is available," Ms Akkerman said.
"It also provides an excellent opportunity for community members to ask any questions they might have on cancer, and to talk about local issues the Mildura community is facing.
"I'd urge anyone from the area who wants to know more about cancer to join us at this free seminar," Ms Akkerman said.
The Director of the Cancer Council Victoria, Professor David Hill, Director of Communications, Ms Jane Sullivan and Relay For Life Coordinator, Mr Grant Fenton will also present important information for locals at the seminar.
Professor Hill will discuss the latest cancer statistics and present information on cancer research and prevention.
Ms Jane Sullivan will be introducing the Cancer Council's new Internet site and the many functions available to the public that will assist through one's cancer journey.
Mr Grant Fenton will highlight the amazing work that the Mildura community has done to support our events like the recent Mildura Relay For Life and what can be done in the future.
