Fruit + Veg Week from Monday 28 April until Friday 2 May 2008 marks the celebration of fruit and vegetables, and the launch of the Kids - ‘Go for your life' Plant Fruit and Veg in Your Lunchbox healthy message campaign.

Preliminary research conducted by Kids - ‘Go for your life' found only 5% of children are eating the recommended five or more serves of vegetables per day.

"Today we are launching our new healthy message campaign, Plant Fruit and Veg in Your Lunchbox, to reinforce the need to actively encourage fruit and vegetable consumption in children settings," said Dr Suzy Honisett, Manager Kids - ‘Go for your life'.

Creating healthy habits for life is the basis of the Kids -‘Go for your life', and over 1050 schools and early childhood services across Victoria are currently involved.

Telmo Languiller, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Services, said Fruit + Veg Week and Kids -‘Go for your life' were two initiatives established to address childhood obesity and to improve the health of Victoria's children.
