4-year-old ovarian cancer survivor

Tuesday 19 August, 2008 by Gail

Hello my name is Gail Maree Naidu, I am 28 years old. I was born in New Zealand and when I was just 4 years old I had cancer in my ovaries (which is very rare in children and also happens for very different reasons than the type of ovarian cancer that older women get). I had both of them taken out and I survived.

I tell you now I am very lucky.

I have a friend who still has a brain tumor and is still going to hospital for treatment, but I am good - I don't need the hospital anymore.

I am strong and happy. I am married but no children as I can't have any (although there are ways for me). I just keep thinking positively, all thanks to the doctors and nurses I am alive and happy.
