The aim of the study is to clarify the optimal time to start hormone treatment for men with prostate cancer, that is not curable, but not causing symptoms. Hormone treatment does cause side effects and we do not know if there is any advantage in starting treatment early. The presence of side effects from starting early is only worthwhile if extra benefit results. This study will compare the effects of immediate or delayed treatment on survival and quality of life.
