The levels of a molecule known as PtdIns(3,4,5)P3 are increased in many human cancers. We have identified a protein, PIPP, that decreases levels of PtdIns(3,4,5)P3 and therefore may function to suppress tumours. We will increase or decrease the amount of PIPP in cells and determine the role PIPP plays in controlling cell growth and development. We have identified a number of proteins which bind to PIPP and will analyse the role these proteins play in regulating cell signalling.
