This intervention study will examine the effects of social norms on summer shade use in parks in Denver (which has had only sporadic sun protection education) and Melbourne (with the benefit of over 20 years of SunSmart campaigning).

These two locations have similar summer climates. We seek to test the hypothesis that, when shade sails are built in Melbourne parks, they will far more be used by residents over summer, than when they are built in Denver parks.
