There are a growing number of human cancers now associated with infectious agents but it is still not clear how they contribute to the disease. This grant proposal focuses on understanding the role of one such virus, called the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), in lymphoma. It is currently estimated that EBV-associated malignancies comprise ~2% of the global cancer burden so a better understanding of the role of EBV in cancer is required.
