Transcript voice over: Sir Edward Dunlop, surgeon and patron of the Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria.
Sir Edward Dunlop: Cancer involves both the patient and the family members. Since the late 1930s the Anti-Cancer Council has provided emotional support and practical services to cancer sufferers.
On a day-to-day basis the Council's welfare support team provides a point of contact for cancer patients, their family members and friends as well as health and welfare professionals.
The last 10 years has seen a growth in cancer treatment centres applying the latest technology. Council believes that technology should go hand in hand with access to the full range of patient support services.
The Anti-Cancer Council will continue to provide patient support services within the community as well as having a continuing co-ordinating role in the cancer services field.
