Sexual and intimate changes after cancer will be the focus of a free Cancer Council workshop to be held in Carlton on Friday December 5.
Almost all cancer treatments have the potential to alter sexual function.
This free workshop for people with cancer and their partners will focus on a broad range of intimacy issues and discuss ways to stay sexually confident regardless of partnership status.
Sexuality and cancer expert Dr Amanda Hordern said these workshops have helped increase the sexual confidence of thousands of cancer patients around Australia.
"Participants are so relieved to have found a safe and supportive environment to discuss their concerns," Dr Hordern said.
"People can feel less sexual because they look different or feel less attractive after cancer treatment.
"The good news is with the right information and advice, up to 70% of patients can improve their sexual and intimate life."
Dr Hordern encourages anyone experiencing sexual and intimate issues after cancer to attend this free event so they can enhance quality-of-life.
