Victorian Cooperative Oncology Group

VCOG Cancer Clinical Network is a peak multi-specialty representative oncology forum in Victoria, consisting of over 600 health professionals. It aims to promote a range of cooperative measures to optimise cancer management in Victoria. 

Our vison is to reduce the physical, emotional and financial burden of cancer on the community.

 

VCOG Objectives 

  • Promote high- quality evidence based cancer prevention, care and support across Victoria
  • Advocate to improve cancer outcomes on behalf of cancer patients, their families and their communities
  • Increase participation in cancer clinical trials by supporting the conduct of clinical trials
  • Provide educational opportunities for VCOG members and external stakeholders
  • Provide an interface between Cancer Council Victoria and the clincal cancer community
  • Operate an effective program.

VCOG Projects

  •  Victorian Cancer Trials Link - an online database of cancer clincal trials being conducted in Victoria.

  • VCOG administer the Clinical Trials Management Scheme. This retrospectively awards funding to hospitals coordinating clinical trials based on recruitment. The purpose of this funding is to grow clinical trial capacity by financially supporting clinical trials Data Managers.

  • Optimising Cancer Care in Victoria: A Survey of Cancer Clinicians - VCOG invited Victorian clinicians working in oncology to participate in a survey in 2011. It was designed to ascertain the strategies clinicians believe are important to optimising cancer care in Victoria. The results are currently being collated by our Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer. Stay tuned for the results.
